The ventilation system model implements cooling and heating via a building ventilation system. The system provides fresh air to up to 5 ('n') different building zones with a parameterizable constant volume flow share ('InputRateX' and / or 'OutputRateX') and a specific nominal maximum air flow ('qvMaxInputFan' and / or 'qvMaxOutputFan').
These air flows (if selected) can be controlled via an external fan controller depending on building internal and measured outdoor conditions or required fresh air volume. Furthermore, heating and cooling supply via ventilation can be added by external heat exchangers and the corresponding inputs (if selected) 'PreCoolingPower' and 'PreHeatingPower'. Note that cooling is represented by negative and heating by positive input values.
Either forced input or output air flow (or both) is necessary to run the model. Both air flows can be controlled independently. Each connected zone is provided with input and output air dependent on the corresponding air rates. The differences between input and output are balanced zone-wise by assumed air leakage amounts.
In case both forced input and output air flows are enabled, a heat recovery rate can be defined. Based on this, the exhaust air temperature is calculated and used to characterize the zone-wise heating or cooling energy recovery.
